Challenged by Jo Myhill (2)

This week I am following closely Jo Myhill's recipe for her second project on the Paper Artsy blog.

I came a bit unstuck with the colours, but I wanted to stick to Fresco paints and I don't have any of the opaque colours. The embossing on my "Number plates" (I used this instead of an ATC die-cut) isn't as sanded as I would have liked and so doesn't show very much.
Still, I am not planning to hang this piece anywhere, it's only for practice and destined to the bin!

The PA stamps I used are from Hot Picks 1202, 1204, 1206, 1207.

I have enjoyed making the Master Board anyway and plan to do more. What about you? Tempted?

Thanks for coming by,

  1. Love the colour combination, I needed to enlarge the photo to see all the different layers and elements. Practice is always good and yes even mine end up in the bin sometimes! Jo xx

  3. Wow, bright colours. I don't know why you would put it in the bin. Try giving it a thin white wash. One of the PA GDT gave that tip a while ago and I use it when I am not happy but don't know where to go. It kind of blends and tones down. Then add some more to it. If you intend to bin it anyway you have nothing to lose but I'm to tight to throw anything away if I think it has legs. This looks like a project in progress. Progress

  4. The red and purple go well together, don't bin it, you can always build on top of it. use it as a base layer for another project. Knock it back with a thin layer of white acrylic, rolled on with a brayer if you have one, if not a small bottle such as a fresco bottle will work just as well. then you can build more layers.

  5. Oh, I think you should use it too! I like the text around the sides and I think the ideas about 'knocking back' are great. Also Darcy's idea about making your own brayer with a small bottle is a wonderfully simple tip! Julie Ann xx

  6. This is great, I think it is lovely to return to traditional masterboards rather than having to use a gelli whatsit for everything; we used to manage with stamps, didn't we,

  7. your ATC is really beautiful...I dont' see why you don't like it, I would just stamp a picture (with black ink) directly on top of it or on a seaprate sheet of paper and cut it out and glue it on top of it. Maybe the picture of a face

  8. I agree with everyone else - keep it ! it's good to experiment. x

  9. I'm another advocate for keeping it! I'm learning to reuse things I don't like initially as backgrounds and it's amazing how sticking or stamping something on top changes it completely. I agree with Darcy about the colours too. I am a bit of a coward when it comes to bright colours and wish I could be more 'abandoned' because I love the results I see on other people's work such as here.
