Zen Hedgehog

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by Sarah is "Woodland Critters". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme. I chose a Hedgehog with a difference for my make:

The focal image is a stamp by Rubber Dance, Handsome Hedgehog (RSSS0024), coloured with pencils.

I die-cut the image with the AALL & Create Tag It Yourself #27 die set and, as it was a little short, I adjusted the height and added the small label shape from the set at the top when sticking to the mat, cut with the largest die.

Hop over to the Allsorts challenge blog to see all the DT inspiration and upload your projects. There are two prizes from Lavinia Stamps, stencil and stampscapes  pictured below for lucky winners!

World Animal Day is October 4th which fits in so nicely with this fortnights theme. So to celebrate there will be some surprise random spot prizes during this challenge open to all entrants Worldwide. Winners of those will be announced on 10th October when this challenge closes.

Leafy Trees

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by Val is "Trees/leaves/plants". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme.

The focal image is one of the stamp from the Crafty Individual CI-429 'Trees Galore'. I do have a lot of tree stamps, especially from Crafty Individuals but not only. The most difficult was to choose!

I am using the AALL & Create #93 Woodsy Vibes die set and this is its first public outing. Obviously it will feature a lot in Autumn makes but today it's perfect for our Allsorts theme. I die-cut the frame first in brown and then in the green paper (Paper Artsy Chatsworth...) snipping the leaves only.

When I bought the die I didn't realise the the die cuts both the outside AND the inside of the frame which means that you need to layer the frame onto a base card. I kept the negative (the "innie") and stuck it to the base card with the branches so it would all be the same colour.

The second die in the set cuts a slightly smaller mat and I used that to create the focal image.
I used a polymer plate and Distress inks to create sky and grass and then stamped my trees in several colours of inks using both inkpads (small ones) and brush pens.

Hop over to the Allsorts challenge blog to see all the DT inspiration and upload your projects. There are two prizes of 2 stamps sets pictured below for the lucky winners!

Autumn is coming

Hello crafters!
I am feeling inspired by the fast approaching Autumn season with the changing colours of the Autumn leaves... My starting point for this card was a fairly recent die-set that I bought especially for Autumn makes!

I first inked the background with Distress inks and pieces of card for the shape of the hills.
I stamped all the elements of the scene before die-cutting with the inside mat of the Woodsy Vibes die  set.
I die-cut the frame from brown cardstock and die-cut an additional piece for the leaves side of the frame from multicoloured cardstock I had prepared with Distress Oxides .
Then all that remains to do is to stick down everything on the card base, a sunny orange coloured  piece of card.

I have to say I have been using AALL & Create die sets, for nearly every card I make recently, and I think it's because these sets are big enough to serve as base and have unusual shapes.

Supplies:
All stamps from Lavinia
- Scout LAV859
- Moon LAV431
- Tree scene LAV219
- Forest Moss LAV857
- Forest Mushroom LAV564
- AALL & Create #93 Woodsy vibes die set

The focal image is Imagination crafts Art Stamps inked with Kaleidacolor "Vineyard" inkpad.

The sentiment, stamped with the same inkpad is from the Rubber Dance set Retro Beach.

The background paper is from a Gorjuss pack, die-cut with the AALL & Create #78 Roadways Vistas. matted to black card, die-cut with the matching die in the same set.

All aboard

Hello crafters!

Today I have a first inspiration make for our Country View Challenge held in the Facebook group. This month the theme is "The Great Outdoors " hosted by Jane
For my second inspiration I pulled out my most recent Lavinia stamps Double Trouble (LAV963)

I started with a base of white card die-cut with AALL & Create #27 Die set "Tag It Yourself"

I did the stamping first as I needed to know where to leave out "the light", all with Versafine Black ink. As well as the mice, I used these other stamps used (all Lavinia):

- Bulrushes (LAV003)
- Fantasea (LAV721)
- Mini Fairy Lantern (LAV588)
- Forest Moss (LAV857)

I used Elements inks and Distress Inks to colour the background adding ripples in the water with a white crayon. The black mat is the matching die from the same "Tag It Yourself" set.

Layered Flowers

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by Lynn, is "Pretty Flowers". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme. My flower inspiration is a beautiful set by Altenew consisting of stencils and stamps:

The flowers and leaves are built up in layers with several shades of dye ink using the stencils of the Altenew Dynamic Duo Blooming Branch Stamp and Stencil set. The stamens are added with the stamps as is the sentiment.

I die-cut the image and the matching mat with the AALL & Create #91 Die Set - Film Drip.

Have bus pass will travel

Hello crafters!

Today I have another inspiration make for our Country View Challenge held in the Facebook group. This month the theme is "Travel" hosted by Zoe Hillman.

I have chosen the humble bus for my second trip...

For my background I have used a piece of AALL & Create the Ethereal Expeditions paper (#15) and stencilled the brickwork on top (Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Stencil Set #28 ). Then I die-cut the background and the matching black mat with AALL & Create Die Set - Climbing Woods (#77).

I die-cut the bus once out of red card and again with mirror and white card pieces to add the details. For the wheels and shadow under the bus I used coloured pencils, for "glass" I used acetate glued from the back. The bus number is peel off stickers.

I used one of the dies in the AALL & Create Die Set Splodazzlers  (#33) to create the silver with a red border circle as a mat for my sentiment.

And since I had the seldom used peel offs out, I added a few stars and balloons, just coz... [must use stuff...]

I had trouble photographing this card due to the reflective surfaces, so here's another look:

The call of the sea

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by yours truly is "Seaside". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme.

As this is a favourite theme for me, I made 2 cards, above and under the waves...

The focal image is Penny Black's Escape (40-692) stamped in several colours of inks. (I used both inkpads and markers as I rarely have all the colours in all media).
The base is glossy card, and I added colour with dye inks and a smoothie to the sky, sea and sandy beach.

For the mat I used the AALL & Create #91 Film Drip die set, extending the height by doing 2 partial cuts and finishing with scissors.

The underwater scene has been stamped with Versafine Clair inks (next time I will make sure to use Memento) on watercolour paper.

All stamps are from the Creative Stamping issue 97.I stamped first and then water coloured the water and sea floor, removing the sun rays and light areas with a dry brush.
A final stamp in white pigment ink for the bubbles, which I strengthened with a gel pen.
I finished colouring the turtle, fish and seashells.

The image and its mat were then die-cut with the AALL & Create #77 Climbing Woods die set.

City Travel

Hello crafters,

today I have an inspiration make for our June Country View Challenge held in the Facebook group. This month the theme is "Travel" hosted by Zoe Hillman.
I have chosen the Sizzix Vault Christmas Magic (666718) die set to drive my muse...

My background has been coloured with alcohol inks using a felt pad and the buildings have been die-cut from a piece of Gelli printed canvas textured card.
The car and lorries are fiddly to assemble because they are small but otherwise the scene was really easy to put together.
To match the naïve look of the die-cuts I used the AALL & Create #32 die set Numberama for my base.

Proof this set isn't just for Christmas!

Allsorts challenge Birthday!

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge celebrates its 16th Birthday! For that very special challenge we have an easy theme... Anything Goes and fantastic prize bundles of AALL & Create crafty goodness amongst others!

So of course I had to showcase one of my latest acquisition from ALL & Create...

I used a sheet (A4) of the Ethereal Expeditions paper (#15) from AALL & Create with the die Building Silhouettes (#58) to create the card.
Steps:
1. Place the die on the side you have chosen as the front of the card, bottom right on the long side.
2. Die-cut
3. Turn the card to the opposite side (the back) and place the die to the right of the sheet.
To get the same effect as I did, with the higher roofs at the back, place the die higher than for the previous cut. I placed mine 2.5cm (1") above.
4. This time you need to do a partial cut, and only die cut the top of the die, otherwise you going to have the back of the card cut off! In addition if you want to write on the inside, try to cut only what is visible from the front so that the rest of the card is without windows!

After die cutting score the card in the middle and fold. The opened card in the sun gives lovely shadows:

Mr O'Neil

Hello crafters!
Today I am showing a second inspiration make for our Country View Challenge on the theme "Aged, weathered, distressed or timeworn " hosted by Brenda.
For this tag I chose Paper Artsy Infusions to create the aged/distressed look in the background.

The base of my tag is thin wood cut with the AALL & Create Die set Tag It Yourself #27 and gessoed. I then sprinkled Infusions in Rusty Car, Walnut and A Bit Jaded onto the sprayed tag.
I added some stencilling with white acrylic with the Tim Holtz Mini Stencil #43.

Bits of washi tape (AALL & Create #107), clip die-cut (AALL & Create #30 Taggletastic) embossed with a mix of Wow Embossing powders, with a note attached (stamp by Andy Skinner), Cello Sticker Tape  (TH94386) and finally paper doll (the imaginary Mr O'Neil now cast as an industry magnate!).

The cogs are cut from masterboards created with acrylic paints in black, and Distress Oxides sprays in Salty Ocean, Fossilized Amber and Tea Dye. Then they were die-cut with the Sizzix Bigz L Cogs .

Weather Beaten and Sun Bleached

Hello crafters!
Today I have a first inspiration make for our Country View Challenge held in the Facebook group. This month the theme is "Aged, Weathered, Distressed" hosted by Brenda

I used rust and sun bleached wood as my weathered inspiration.

My base is some recycled lightweight wood (food packaging) cut with the AALL & Create Die set  - Tag It Yourself #27 and primed with gesso.
I applied some rusting powder (Paper Artsy) with water and vinegar as well as Distress Oxide in Patina and let them mingle.
I dove deep in my bits and bobs stash retrieving waste of die cuts (the pennants) and embellishments.
The main image, is the lighthouse from Paper Artsy set HP1202 stamped on fabric.
Decorative chips from Stamperia, a piece of Washi #106 from Stamperia (bottom right), a snippet of card embossed with a the Mini Lumber folder from Tim Holtz/Sizzix, aged with inks and more were added as embellishments.

Masculine card with stencils

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by Val, is "Stencils/Masks". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme.

In other news there is a new monthly challenge for tags and ATCs lovers Tag-Along (and ATCs), first challege starts 1st of May.

My stencil inspiration:

The background is a Gelli print I made with a DIY stencil by die-cutting numbers into a piece of card with the ALL & Create die set #33 Numberama (in black) and bits from the #39 Infinarty set. I also used the Ledger (TCW267) from The Crafters Workshop (in white) and Imagination Crafts (MA241) stencils.

I used Paper Artsy for the paints and with the stencils, Prima Heavy gesso (white) and DecoArt Media black gesso.

The focal image is AALL & Create Car from the #77 Climbing Wood die set, which I die-cut in pearlescent green (I was going for a metallic paint finish). I added some silverware with foil to the bumper and other accessories.

I cut the Gelli print and a mat with the set #33 Splodazzlers.

Finally I added a clip and a label, both die-cut with the #30 Taggletastic set, also ALL & Create. [Yes I'm a bit obsessed with their dies...]

Spring Crocus

Hello crafters,
This fortnight, the Allsorts challenge optional theme, chosen by Ellie is "Spring Flowers". As usual, you can also enter with an "anything goes" theme.

The focal image is the Crocus from AALL & Create stamp set #624, which I stamped with Memento inks in Grape Jelly and Pear tart. I used the words from the same stamp set around the crocus with Versafine black.
I then masked the flower and used Distress Oxide inks on a polymer plate, spritzed with water to add colour to the background.
Some stencilling with a trellis stencil (Creative Stamping issue 111) with Distress Oxide in scattered straw,
I used coloured pencils to fill in the petals and stalk and die cut the image and mat with the AALL & Create Numberama die set (#33 ), affixing the whole onto a white base card.

Hop over to the Allsorts blog to see all the DT inspiration and upload your projects. Prizes of stamps and stencils from AALL and Create (winners will receive random selection from those shown below)

Floral card

Hello crafters!

Today is my second post on the theme of "Mother's Day/Use flower(s)" for our Country View Challenge held in the Facebook group and hosted by Cassie.

I selected vellum for this card as I wanted to use coloured pencils.
Why vellum, I hear you ask? Well, vellum has 2 advantages when it comes to coloured pencils: the first is that the paper has a texture that grabs the pencil, allowing more colour to be applied, the second, because it is semi opaque. a second layer of colour can be applied to the back for even stronger depth of colour.

First I stamped the flowers from the AALL & Create "In The Wild" stamp set (#529) in white pigment ink . Then I coloured on top with the pencils.

The image and its mat have been die-cut with the AALL & Create Splodazzlers set (#33).

Finishing touches are some of the little "bits" from the same die set and small brads I have coloured with nail varnish (in pink) and embossing powders (the black and the white brads).

To enter the challenge, hop on to our friendly group here and upload your project to the challenge album. You could win the fabulous prize pictured below, one of the just released Paper Artsy stamp set from the Country View Craft shop.

Exquisite

Hello crafters!

Today I have a first inspiration make for our Country View Challenge held
in the Facebook group. This month the theme is "Mother's Day/Use a flower(s)"
hosted by Cassie.
I stamped the flowers first and coloured them, thinking I would mask them before the next step. Unfortunately the masking wasn't 100% proof and a lot of my yellow, blue and orange sprays have obscured somewhat the flowers... Still the grainy effect was to my liking so I kept it!

The stamp set is CMS453 "Exquisite" Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous.

Once dry, I die-cut the image and a mat with the AALL & Create Roadway Vistas #78.

Girlfriends Forever

Hello crafters,

Today I have a second inspiration make for our Country View Challenge on the theme of "Romance and Friendship" hosted by yours truly!
I first created my background with alcohol inks on Yupo paper, spritzing with alcohol and dripping  Alcohol blending ink.  Then, I applied Ranger's alcohol lift ink with a brayer to the whole Yupo sheet and transferred the "print" by pressing white cardstock on top of the Yupo. (second prints can be done but will be paler).

I stamped the Paper Artsy girls from the fifties (HP1207 set) an old one but perfect for this card.
I added a sentiment from a STAMPlorations set (sadly not active at the moment)

The paper and mat have been cut with the AALL & Create die set #33 - Splodazzlers

Shades of blue

Hello crafters,
Today we have a new theme for our Allsorts challenge, "Shades of Blue", chosen by Liz. You can also enter with the Anything Goes option. up to 5 times! My inspiration make is this tag all in blue bar the matt:

I did all my stamping first, using different colours of Versafine ink.
Stamps are all Lavinia:
Oak Leaf Flourish (LAV760)
Fantasea (LAV721)
Bulrushes (LAV003)
Forest Moss (LAV857)

I then created the background, also with Versafine Clair inks using a smoothie. The moon (a simple circle) and the boat were masked to preserve the lightness.
I added a few strokes of pastel pencils to anchor the bulrushes and represents ripples in the water.
The base and the black mat were die-cut with the #27 Tag It Yourself die set by AALL & Create

Hop over to the Allsorts blog to see all the DT inspiration and upload your projects. There are two prizes of Lavinia Stamps and stencil (photos not to scale) to be won!

Bewitched

Hello crafters,

Today I am kicking off the Country View Challenge on the theme of "Romance and Friendship" which I have chosen since Valentine's day is just around the corner!
If Romantic love is not your thing you can go with Friendship or any other kind of human love (children, family...)

The inspiration for this card is the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Vault set Wicked (666683), on the premise that witches do not always have to be sinister and the old series Bewitched came to mind.
It's not that I don't have any "Romantic" themed stamps or dies but I was itching to use the set, one of my latest purchases from Country View Crafts during the Advent Calendar event (every year my budget downfall...).

For background I chose AALL & Create #15 Ethereal Expeditions paper. I say paper but at a whooping 350gsm it is very much heavy cardstock, great for card bases and boxes too!
I added some Distress inks to suggest a floor and a wall.

To the broom, witch, cat and bottles from the Wicked set, I added heart confettis (Memory Box Heart Sprinkles 94112), and the word Love (660218 Sizzix/Tim Holtz Thinlits Die Set 7PK - Handwritten Love).
The shelf is a freebie die from Creative Stamping magazine( Issue 105) and I have printed the cauldron and fussy cut it.

There you have it, witches aren't just for Halloween!

To enter the challenge, hop on to our friendly group here and upload your project to the challenge album. You could win both stamp sets pictured below from the Country View Craft shop.
