Birds in the wood

Artful Times want to see birds on our creation so this was the starting inspiration for this piece.

I selected my Birds from the Crafty Individuals stamp set CI-329 and set out to create a wood background with Brushos and  Imagination Crafts Nature set mica powders trying to match Brushos and mica, colour for colour, as I dropped them on the wet water colour paper. Sadly the shine doesn't show in the main picture so here's a snippet with a better light:

I added a path (Lavinia) and some grasses (Flonzcraft) to complete the impression of a path in the woods.

I want to make this into a card but I'm not sure what colour to use as a card base so any suggestion welcomed!

Thanks for coming by,

  1. This will make a gorgeous card! Think I would probably mount it on cream or even dark green, or maybe black?! Great background. Thanks for joining in the CI Challenge for March, Jean x

  4. Has to be kraft card then black, this will pop out the stamping and keep to the nature theme. I LOVE your card Christine, it is so beautiful. Ohhh a thought edge in black then mount onto kraft card, that's better :-) xxx

  8. It is gorgeous! I love the boldness of your colours and the way you have left the 'cracks' in the coloured background. Great idea! You have to place your card against backgrounds to find the right base. Sometimes holding it up in front of a mirror or taking a snapshot with a digital camera helps you decide more easily. I would go for same on same at first as black may create too much of a contrast for the delicate birds. Try a darer green, burgundy or brown even. Show us the finished project when your done!

  9. Superbe scène et fond, j'adore!!! Moi je dirais vert comme ta carte d'abord, puis crème ou vert plus sombre... ou encore orange peut-être?.. Fais des essais!! :D Bravo en tout cas. Bisous

  13. I've seen loads of Brushos backgrounds around and whilst they have been very nice I have not been inspired to rush out and buy them. But this! This is truly gorgeous and different and just lovely!!! and the stamping is perfect - just the right amount. Off to Lavinia Stamps too to have a look at what they have. If you are on commission - lots coming from me!!! Oh, and I would go for the olive green with maybe a very think black too.
