Stamping CAS style

New letter, new word for this fortnight at the Craft Barn. This time we must add a heart!

I decide to follow a CAS approach to give my stamped image space to breathe.

I stamped 3 Hibiscus of various sizes (stamp sheet from Rubber Dance) with India ink markers (Faber Castell), although the little one (at the back) had some Spun sugar Distressed ink applied first to get a lighter colour.
It took me a while to find the perfect combination of paper (smooth stamping) and media (Big Brush pen) before achieving the depth of colour and the detailed effect I had in mind.

Since I had to include a heart I decided to use a felt shape as my base for the letter instead of a stamp die-cut as per my previous page. The letter is a die-cut from a very old Sizzix strip (Monde de Blonde) which I don't use very much because I can't get it to cut neatly in my machine. [I had to finish it with the craft knife]

Finally the dictionary definition of the word, very predictably, Flower!

Thanks for coming by,

  1. Ooh that is just my favourite sort of stamped image, I love the loose watercolour effect you have achieved and the CAS design showcases the flower beautifully.

  2. Love how you have created the flower and the colour combination is very striking.

I too have trouble with some of my dies but after buying a metal shim my troublesome dies cut perfectly.

I am definitely going to the Saturday craft show at Farnborough so hopefully we can meet up Christine. Farnborough also has an awesome craft shop called The Art Of Craft which is just down the road from the craft show.

  4. Flower might be considered a predictable word choice, but your stamped flower is NOT predictable. It looks very cool. Love how you created it.

With my dies that don't cut cleanly, I add a piece of card stock on the machine bed then put the sandwich on that and my dies then cut cleanly.

  5. A really stunning card Christine and such effective stamping of the floral images.

I had some of the Sizzix strip letter and number dies and used to have the same problems, I remember once using them for some 21st Birthday invites and it took forever.

  13. Very pretty. I don't think I have seen that many CAS cards from you, but you nailed this one. Lovely use of my Hibiscus stamps, too ♥

  15. I'm REALLY late and know it, but I simply had to visit, even though the next CB challenge has already been posted. The word might seem predictable, but the art is not. Your flower is wonderful.

Too bad about your die cutter. I don't like to use a craft knife, so I applaud you with finishing in for the challenge!

  16. A very elegant card. The flower looks almost transparent, that is very clever. I love this.
