Roses Framework

Happy April's fool day and welcome to our Country View Challenge for this new month, hosted by Evelyn, who chose "Pimp It Up" as the theme. Whether you re-cycle something around the house or alter a shop bought item, make something fantastic out of something ordinary...

My first inspiration for you is a photo frame, shabby chic style with lots of Roses too!

The frame is made from cardboard so I first applied Gesso to the frame, protecting the center of the frame with a piece of paper.

I added a scrap of left over rice paper (Imagination Crafts) and covered everything with a coat of Prima Texture Paste Clear crackle. It gives lovely fine crackles when applied fairly thinly. To colour the frame and highlight the crackles at the same time, I brushed some Prima Marketing Artisan Powder in French Sage.

I glued some punched metal flourishes instead of stencilled texture paste, since I found out that with the curve of the frame I couldn't do it cleanly!

A bit of paint, a bit of Metallic Lustre (DecoArt), some mica spray, roses in different sizes and voila:

In the frame I placed this Tea Rose panel I made last year to keep in with the Rose theme.

Don't forget to check the Country View blog for the inspirational makes of the rest of the DT. Do join us and enter the challenge for a chance to win a £ 20 voucher to spend on crafting goodies.

Thanks for coming by,

I am entering the We love 2 create and Mixed Media Monthly (I used green and red as complementary on my frame) challenges.

  12. I really like the crackles and the aged look of this. Also I love how you have chosen colours that are both vintage looking, and very on trend right now.
