Crafty Individuals Project 3 - Turtle

Time to show you another project showcased on the Crafty Individuals blog earlier this month where I was a Guest DT. This project is more dimensional and "off the page".

I used a kit consisting of a glass panel, MDF back panel and a wooden base with 2 channels to hold the panels leaving a gap of 1" between the 2.

With glass, there are 2 sides available to achieve the effect you are after. For instance you can use normally incompatible mediums such as Archival inks to stamp and alcohol inks to colour, but also you can create foreground and background independently without having to worry about painting around your motifs.

For my back panel I just used a sheet from the Crafty Individuals background Book 6 - The Seaside.

On the glass panel I first stamped the turtle from CI-413 'A Bright Future' and embossed with clear embossing powder.
At the bottom of what will be the ocean floor, I stamped vegetation and "coral" using ferns from CI-207 'Ferns and Grasses'   and a tree top from CI-209 'Winter Trees' with Versamark and embossed with green and brown embossing powders.

Turning the glass over I painted the back of the turtle with acrylic paints.

Between the panels I placed some shells (from a mould) on crumpled tissue paper.

Thanks for coming by,

I am entering the Stamping Sensations challenge.

  1. Wow, what a fabulous project! So unusual, and so beautifully made. It's perfect for our close to nature theme at Stamping Sensations. Thanks for sharing it with us.
