Welcome to my first inspiration piece for the Theme & Sketch Stamplorations Challenge.
This month the various DT are following a single theme, so we have no sketch to follow for our Theme & Sketch challenge. The theme is:
Create a winged-themed project
I can't remember what left field sequence of ideas gave birth to this concept, unusually fanciful for me... but I do hope you will recognise immediately what I have tried to create, using the Birds of Paradise stamp set and coordinating die set.
Perhaps the concept is more obvious when the card is opened so here's what it looks like:
I won't lie, this wasn't a quick make but only because I was intent on keeping it to a one layer card.
To make it I drew a diagonal across my card base and placed my bird dies straddling the line halfway. I die cut each bird in turn, only cutting out the top half by placing the cutting plates just short of the line. The difficulty here is to position the sandwich correctly in your machine for this partial cut without folding the card in 2... it was a very tight fit with my 8" wide platform. As I said, that wasn't easy...
Once cut, I just stamped the birds over their respective die-cut shapes and coloured them with pencils.
As an easier and quicker alternative you could just stamp and die-cut the birds on a separate piece of card and sandwich them between 2 identical card bases.
Starting from my diagonal line I then drew and coloured an escalator, using washi tape for the central part to cover a stamping mishap.
When folded the card looks like this:
Just like in your shopping mall...
Do check out what my teamies made on the Stamplorations blog and create a Winged Themed project to link up to our May challenge you could win one of 2 $5 certificates randomly picked or the top $15 for the top make voted by the DT.

I will be back on the 18th of May for a second make, thanks for coming by today,
Love this. Cute and quirky. Yeah, I done that before. Struggle with partial die cuts to keep it all one layer then realise no one notices the difference between that and just die cutting and stickin em on. Except you, and the person who gets the card. And that makes it all worthwhile. Hugz

ReplyDeleteOh this is a great card! I love the staggered card base. It really looks like the birds are walking down the card. Great sentiment, too!
