Crafty Individuals Project 6 - Landscape

For my final  GD make for Crafty Individual this month, I created another scene but this time on a bigger scale. I have aimed to make it look like a watercolour painting, but without any need for drawing!
This is a fairly large picture, I used an entire A4 sheet of watercolour paper (8.27 × 11.69 inches) and a labour of love... Getting the perfect alignement of the different house stamps and fences was time consuming. The colouring by contrast was fairly quick.
Stamps used:

CI474 The Village Inn and Church
CI-460 Build a Landscape
CI-449 My favourite Place
CI-429 Trees Galore
CI-449 My Favourite Place

I used a stamp positioner and masks to get the images in the right place. It's a good idea to have a trial run to iron out any glaring issue and have a plan to follow to avoid making mistakes.
With all the images in place I painted from top to bottom my first layers of watercolours. For the foreground grass I used masking fluid to draw blades of grass before my next layers of paints.

The children from the 'My Favourite Place' set were stamped and coloured on a separate piece of card and fussy cut. Originally I was going to cut off their legs in line with the page but I thought it looked more interesting this way, a bit Trompe l'oeil. To show you what I have in mind I added a digital frame to the photo.

Easily my best drawn watercolour...

I hope you've enjoyed my Crafty Individuals series, for my part I was thrilled to be Guest Designer and create these pieces for Jean and Malcom, it was a great opportunity and I'm thankful to them both.

Until next time,
