Wild flowers in my garden
Our new challenge starts today at Country View Challenges and this time the theme has been chosen by teamie Jane, Summer Garden.
Not a keen gardener myself, I'm more attracted to wild flowers in the countryside and this is what I tried to render in my make.
The background is the result of an experiment with Distress Oxides and photo paper. I kept adding layers of Oxides to get the colours I wanted and although there is a layer of "chalk" coming up to the surface I liked the effect.
If you've never used D.O with photo paper, be aware that the opaque part of the ink sits on the surface after drying and can easily be wiped away, even by just handling it, so a light spray of varnish or pastel fix might be in order.
To stamp my wild flowers/grasses (PapertreyInk: Larger Than Life Stamp Set) I first tried using water, then Versamark. Neither method managed to lift enough of the Oxide to reveal a darker layer underneath so I over-stamped with Memento black ink, which looks grey on the photo because the dye sort of sinks into the Distress Oxides.
To finish I added a word cut out of glitter paper (Vacation words Thinlits from Sizzix), a layered butterfly die-cut (Impression Obsession DIE-008) and a piece of twine.
Join us this July and create a garden inspired make for your chance to win a £20 voucher to spend at Country View. For more inspiration check out what the rest of the team has created for the Country View Challenge
I will be back mid month for my second inspiration piece, in the meantime, enjoy your summer!
I am entering the SSS Wednesday Challenge, Paperbabe, Stamping Sensations, Penny Black and more challenges.
