She loved butterflies and if you'd like to contribute, whether you knew Melissa in real life or just online, you will be able to add your butterfly makes on the blog.
I took inspiration from one of Melissa's colourful card, albeit using different products .

Mine uses :
Nestled Circles - ARTplorations Stencil
For the Birds stamp set and coordinating For the Birds Dies - CUTplorations
For my background I first applied Gelatos in the order of the rainbow on a piece of watercolour card and "melted" the colours with a brush.
I then placed the Nested Circles stencil on top and with a baby wipe took off some of the colour. For a more striking effect I would have gesso'ed first, but I thought the subtle look was better as a foil to the sentiment and bird.
I stamped one of the birds in the set with the Kaleidacolor - Autumn Leaves inkpad, hitting the red and orange inks, and die-cut it.
The sentiment is embossed in white detail powder and my butterflies are punched (a very old long reach punch) from textured white card.
I have never met Melissa, as I haven't met most of the people I interact with online, but it is human nature to feel the sorrow her premature death caused and wish we could help in some way. It is no coincidence we offer our Sympathy (feeling with) in these circumstances, and I believe her family will take comfort in knowing that she had such an impact on so many through her art.
R.I.P Melissa
