Floral card with Polka doodles

This was meant to be a quick make and as long as you do what I say and not what I did (…) it will be.
Most of the work is done by the papers, all from an already colour matched selection by Polkadoodles with a stamped image.

I kept the focal image simple by just stamping and not colouring, applying the colour to the stamps instead.

I combined 3 stamps from the Polkadoodles Clear Stamp Set - Hello Friend to build my image and this required to mask both the leaves and the big bloom, as I wanted them on top of the smaller flower.

If you are prone to distraction and/or forgetfulness (ahem!) it might be a good idea to write down the stamping sequence as otherwise you will end up with a flower head in the background but its stem in the foreground...

To finish I added a stamped sentiment from the Everyday Sentiments by Julie Hickey Designs and embossed it in white.

For an even quicker make, cut or tear the papers (rather than die-cutting) and place on the card base at an angle, then you don't have to worry about keeping everything straight!

Supplies:
Polkadoodles A5 Paper Pack - Colour of Spring
Polkadoodles Clear Stamp Set - Hello Friend
WOW! Embossing Powder - Bright White
Julie Hickey Designs I Need It Stamp Set - Everyday Sentiments
Memento Dew Drop Inkpad Dandelion
VersaMagic Dew Drop Inkpad Eggplant
VersaMagic Dew Drop Inkpad Hint of Pesto

All is revealed

This is my second post of the day as this month the first day of the month also happens to be a Friday! Welcome to our STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch Challenge for March,
 the theme and sketch are:

As usual you can either follow only the Theme or the Sketch, or use both!

My card is all about the Finding Coffee stamp. If you love playing with pen, pencils or watercolours this image is great fun to use. Little by little the flowers and coffee cups are revealed and in turn reveal what lies next to them. Not something you should hurry up but enjoy at leisure. I coloured this one with watercolours, using both waterbased markers and pencils with a water brush.

Stamps from STAMPLorations

Once I had finished the image I didn't want to cover it or distract from it in any way, so I just allowed a little bit of trimming to bring the image to the proportions of my mats and card base. For the card base I used the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

To finish I added a sentiment from the After Coffee set, white embossed on vellum, again with the aim of hiding as little possible of my Finding Coffee image...

Check out what my teamies did following the Theme or Sketch on the STAMPlorations blog and do join us by linking to the challenge. If you do you could win a prize...

Woman of letters

You know the drill, the 1st of the month is the kick off for the Country View Challenge and Evelyn has chosen Letters & Numbers as the theme.

For my first make I went with letters and made a journal page.

All packed

Hello faithful followers and crafters, I have another inspiration make for the STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch challenge!

For February the Theme and Sketch are:
You can choose to follow either the theme or the sketch and, of course, both for the chance to win a prize!

For this second make I followed the sketch:

I used the STAMPlorations Born to Roam set and stamped the suitcases on white card. After colouring the image I fussy cut it and layered it on a piece of Gelli-printed paper. The oval mat behind it also sports a previously Gelli printed paper.

For the sentiment, from the same set, I used a Kaleidacolor inkpad to get that multi-coloured look.

My background is watercolour paper inked with Oxide Distress inks and embossed, with the Tim Holtz/Sizzix embossing Folder Lumber, then inked again (Walnut Stain and Scattered Straw) to catch the high points.

Flower garden

February is the month when the new craft products start arriving in the shops and personally, after a lack of mojo throughout the dreary January we've had in the UK, new goodies do always help reconnect with my creative side!

New to my stash this month is the gorgeous Flower Garden stamp by teamie Julie Hickey. Of course I wanted bright colours to go with it to chivvy spring along...

Thoughtful Valentine

Happy Valentine!
I am just in time to show this tag… I had fun with a bit of Mixed Media and embossing powders on this make and I tried to use some old stash too…

Another Birthday

This little guy is a stamp from a set by Creative Stamping magazine, it has all sorts of animals and humoristic sentiments.

I simply stamped the llama and masked it, then I overstamped the grass from the same set. To finish  I used Distress inks to give a sky and grass impression around my scene.

For the llama I started colouring the image with Distress Inks and added details with coloured pencils.

No prob-llama....

Excuse the poor photo quality, but I am struggling with the low winter sun to get enough light or true colours. I always place a piece of white card underneath my cards, which, as you see, looks very much like a blue-grey in the photo!

Still, I hope you will like this card and thank you for visiting,

Turn back time

Yes, it's time, time for my second inspiration make for the Country View Challenge and the theme of today's card. I had planned something totally different starting with a black base but halfway through I just didn't know how to make it look good and abandoned the idea.
Instead I reverted to a CAS design which is a lot easier when working with the colour constraints.

I used the Somewhere in Time stamp set by Visible image with Black Versafine and orange dye ink.
The splat stamp, cogs stamp or number stamps are partially stamped (no masking involved), I just inked the bits I wanted, no need for precision here.

I created the sentiment by inking only "turn back" from one of the set's sentiments above the "Time" image. I'm not sure why but the song Turn back time imposed itself to me and I thought maybe if one managed to turn back time all clocks would explose!!!

Love birds

Welcome to our new STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch challenge!

For February the Theme and Sketch are:

The deep blue sea

This month at Country View Challenges we have a theme of  Black & White plus another (your choice of 1 more colour), chosen by Sue. With Valentine's day coming up the colours pink, red or even gold will be popular choices but me I'm thinking of summer and the deep blue sea...

Stamped and Watercoloured greeting card

My background has been embossed with Tim Holtz/Sizzix 3-D Texture Fades Folder - Lumber.

My focal image is a stamp from the set Little Boats by Picture This. I simply placed a "wave" mask before stamping the boats and painted the sea and sky with watercolour pencils and a water brush.

I added appropriate words from TH Sizzix Thinlits Vacation words and Adventure Words Script sets to finish.

Clean and simple... I hope you are inspired to enter the challenge, and if you do you could win a £20 voucher to spend in the Country View shop!
